Breaking: Kate Middleton In Labour

News is coming from various sources that Kate Middleton is in labour at a local hospital.

According to USA Today, “Kensington Palace announced that the Duchess of Cambridge checked into St. Mary’s Hospital maternity Lindo Wing at 6 a.m. local time. Her anticipated due date was around April 25, so she was about a week overdue.”

Much of the world is in wait to find out if the child will be a prince or princess.

New Zealand News reports:

The “Great Kate Wait” is finally just about over.

The Duchess of Cambridge is in the early stages of labour and was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital at 6am, London time (5pm, NZ time), Kensington Palace confirmed.

She travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital with her husband, Prince William, Kensington Palace said.

The Duchess was due to have the Queen’s fifth great-grandchild in mid-to-late April and there had been that Kate would be induced.

On Friday (local time) there was some excitement when a police convoy was seen leaving the village of Bucklebury, where Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton live, while another police convoy was seen heading towards the hospital. Kensington Palace refused to comment on either sighting.

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power also raised some hopes on Friday when it announced it had suspended betting on when the royal baby would be born “following a wave of early morning cash for the baby to be born today”.

Another bookmaker, William Hill, had a bit of a laugh by driving two three-metre high teddy bears to the Lindo wing – apparently now being increasingly referred to as the “Limbo” wing – on the back of a small truck.

The baby’s grandfather Prince Charles managed to get some of the attention when he again expressed hopes the baby will be a girl. Speaking to 100-year-old Eric Jones, the oldest surviving member of the Welsh Guards, Charles apparently said: “And we’re hoping for a granddaughter.”
