Flu Vaccines Are Killing Senior Citizens, Study Warns

A JAMA study has found that the flu vaccine, taken by 60% of people over 65-years-old, may be killing a significant number of senior citizens.

A JAMA study has found that the flu vaccine, taken by 60% of people over 65-years-old, may be killing a significant number of senior citizens.

Sharyl Attkisson, a former investigative journalist for CBS, says the study shows there is no improvement in mortality rates among senior citizens who get flu shots, and may actually contribute to increased ill-health and death.

Inquisitr.com reports: The study “got little attention,” she says, “because the science came down on the wrong side.” Whereas the researchers had set out to prove that the push for massive flu vaccination would save the world, the researchers were “astonished” to find that the data did not support their presupposition at all. The data actually shows that deaths increased, not decreased, among seniors following vaccination.

Johns Hopkins scientist, Peter Doshi, Ph.D., issued a report in the prestigious British Medical Journal, according to NewsLI, asserting that the CDC policy of routinely recommending the flu vaccine is being based on “low quality studies that do not substantiate claims.” He says there is no evidence that the vaccine reduces deaths among senior citizens. Interestingly, Doshi cites an Australian study which found significant risks for children as well, stating that “one in every 110 children under the age of five had convulsions following vaccinations in 2009 for H1N1 influenza.”

During the drug trials for the Fluzone flu vaccine, 23 seniors out of 3,833 died after receiving the shot, according to the drug’s package insert, reported by Health Impact News. Another 226 experienced “serious adverse effects.” The manufacturer denies any connection between the deaths and the flu vaccine.

Seniors Told Get Flu Vaccine

There appears to be growing public skepticism that the flu vaccine is as beneficial as the experts say, according to an earlier Inquisitr report. The level of doubt is strongly correlated to the incidence of accounts of research fraud in the vaccine industry, an industry which makes billions of dollars of profit every year.

Often when an article about the dangers of a vaccine comes out, there are people who write in to tell about a family member who was harmed by the vaccine, and the flu vaccine for senior citizens in no exception. A number of people have written to report that their grandmother, or uncle, or brother died shortly after getting a flu shot, sometimes after receiving their first ever such shot. Their stories are frequently minimized, yet the government pays out more compensation from the flu vaccine than any other vaccine.

Despite this, it is increasingly expected that every senior citizen line up for their annual flu shot.

A nursing home near Atlanta, Georgia, now reports a devastating outcome to such a policy, according to Health Impact News. All of the residents of the Hope Assisted Living & Memory Care were given a flu vaccine on Friday, November 7. Every one of the senior citizens developed an immediate fever. Within the week following, five of them died. The source reports that the facility’s typical pattern is one or two losses every six months, frequently due to Alzheimer’s.

“The facility is not saying they are related to the flu shot but we all know they are, and they know they are.”

Questions must be asked, then, such as: do the benefits of getting a flu vaccine outweigh the risks, especially among vulnerable senior citizens? Or would they be better off choosing to reject the shot? Who benefits if evidence showing the harm of the vaccine is buried? And what would be the motive for fabricating evidence of harm if none exists? If the facts are as solid as some insist, then why do they seem to be threatened by the data being challenged? Shouldn’t truth be able to stand up under scrutiny?

I never took a Flu shot at all till I was about 60, I ask the guy that gave me the shot” now this won’t kill me will it”, If I had any effects from it there was not enough to notice, but I have always been afraid of flu shots, but everyone one was saying I needed a flu shot at my age, I took 2 and haven’t took another since, I am 74 now. And I probably won’t be taking another one ever,I am afraid of those things.

  • Stanley Dubinsky

Actually, the study reported in JAMA doesn’t say this at all (i.e. that flu vaccines are “killing” senior citizens). It concludes, rather, that flu vaccines are not as EFFECTIVE as previously thought for people over 65.

“We could not correlate increasing vaccination coverage after 1980 with declining mortality rates in any age group. Because fewer than 10% of all winter deaths were attributable to influenza in any season, we conclude that observational studies substantially overestimate vaccination benefit.”

    • TracyJane

what it says first para is ” Influenza vaccination coverage among elderly persons (≥65 years) in the United States increased from between 15% and 20% before 1980 to 65% in 2001. Unexpectedly, estimates of influenza-related mortality in this age group also increased during this period. .”

      In the news recently….
Senior citizens over the age of 65 are being targeted to get the “high-dose” flu vaccine.

The FAQ at the CVS website defines the “high-dose” flu vaccine: “Containing four times the amount of antigen (the part of the vaccine that causes the body to produce antibody) in regular flu shots, high-dose flu shots, along with the additional antigen produced, are intended to create a stronger immune response.”

The name of this flu vaccine that is marketed for seniors is called “Fluzone.” You can find it being marketed to seniors at all the major pharmacies in the United States.

It is killing seniors and giving them untreatable virus in respritory

    • Chris Johansen

Actually, the age of death, or life span of seniors has been increasing due to many factors and since the 1950’s has greatly increased partly due in part due to vaccinations to prevent virus diseases and anti-antibiotics that cure bacteria diseases, better sanitation, good health practices and modern medicine.
Since the 1980’s, or these past 48 years has been even better due to new drugs even with advent of AIDS. Now many people are living into their late 80’s into their 100 years old.
If you walk around the graveyards and compare, or check obituaries in the 50’s and 80’s into the 2018’s you can see this happening due to our advances in medicine and more knowledge of good health practices.
For reasons for longer life spans, I would include advances in diet and more people taking vita-nutrients like vitamin D3 allowing us a longer life-span.
If you and family wish to live longer life spans, I believe your chances are better by taking advantage of modern medicine and good health practices.

I’ve correlated genealogy going back 1,200 years and much longer on many lines of my ancestry. There are many times along that path my ancestors lived 70, 80 and 90 years of age. It appears there are many times of death ranges going from lower to higher. These had nothing to do with modern medicine causing them to live to those ages. But it’s always nice to hear from people who are can only think in terms of recent past and think they have it figured out.

  • anonomyssy

I know an elderly man who got sick from the flu vaccine, never recovered and passed away very soon thereafter. Yep, say the shots are safe all you want. Get them if you think that’s so…as for me, I’ll keep my health and take my chances. Never had one, never will…I am also floored that medical personnel have to choose between their health, and their jobs, by being forced to take them.

    • rr721

At best vaccines give a very temporary immunity while preventing the permanent immunity gained from defeating flu and colds. Additionally, mothers who don’t receive a permanent immunity don’t pass the immunity to their babies in their milk.

Most likely the 5 senior people died from another type of flu not covered by their vaccine, plus t takes a week, or two for a vaccine to be effective. It’s easy for a flu to spread in conditions like a rest home. I have been getting my vaccines always without ill-efffects and have not had the flu for over 10 years. I do not want to suffer for 14 days like some friends who did not get vacinated because of wrong thinking..

    • Mary Beth Johnson RN

not sure why I bother trying to educate those who just don’t get it…but if you ge the flu shot one year, you are at increased risk for developing a NON-FLU- uppr=er respiratory illness the next year. to is not less troublesome, but does not serve you well. if you get the flu one year, you have some health advantages in later years. look it up. some childhood diseases are also protective for more serious diseases. Vaccines are not the magic! our immune systems are! nourish and protect them! do your homework.

If you feel comfortable getting flu shots then great for you……but that doesn’t mean those that decide against vaccination are wrong! To each their own …
For me? No thanks… have made it 71 yrs so far never having had the flu or the shot…. wash your hands frequently…will give a person a lot more protection against the flu than a vaccine.

Chris, Do go get your mercury and aluminum laden flu shot.

      • Chris Johansen

The amount of mercury in past vaccinations like flu shots was that of one small can of tuna. Aluminum has never proven to be harmful. Aluminum use is all over the place like on food wrappers, cooking pots, soil, rocks, cans and in water.
I am a investigative scientist and know of no proven harm from aluminum.
You can suffer most harm listening from low information people, including some reporters, witch doctors, and quacks.
Of coarse too much of anything can kill you like too much water.
I do recommend vitamins like D3 and E, minerals like Mg, good bacteria supplements, vaccinations, turmeric spice, bone nutrients, exercise, enough rest, Paleo-diet and meditation prevent aging diseases,
The dehydrated veggies and fruits with anti-oxidant benefits and without the carbs calories are the latest beneficial food supplements like Super Reds, Super Green and Super Beets available on-line or at Vitamin , Costco and Trader Joe’s Stores.

Best books on subject are “The Real Vitamin and Mineral Book by Shari Lieberman and “Eat Fat and Get Thin” by Mark Hyman.
If you want to live to 100 years these ways will give you you best chance.

Yes Mary, and you make sure you hold your breath when you go outside to avoid breathing any mercury in the air.

My husband gets flu shots every year and he still gets flu.

      • Chris Johansen

There are many varieties of flu and pneumonia, so vaccines don’t don’t cover all kinds, but past vaccines may lower severity of some of the many varieties of flu. In the deadly 1918 flu many lives were saved by being exposed years before to weaker flu varieties of deadly sub-type. When another deadly flu comes about your best chance will be being exposed to flu vaccinations before the deadly flu comes around, as flu mutate in swine and birds and wild animals to an extremely deadly sub-type like the 1918 killer flu with deaths happening in 2 days it could be late for you and family.

Millions of people die world-wide from the flu and side effects like the grim reaper pneumonia.. Maybe a few get ill from flu shot for a day, or two, but doubtful many die. You can google any tall tale and testimony you like, but doesn’t make it true. If you believe all the quacks on the internet you become crazy too.

  • Chris Johansen

I travel a lot. On the plane some one is coughing on me because they did not get their flu shot, At a cafe on Amazon someone is coughing because they did not take a flu shot and everyone is running for cover. In the internet cafe someone is coughing on the keyboard because they did not get their flu shots and spreading their flu because they did not get their flu shot they can cause death and pain. If you lack care for others and do not get you vaccinations I wish you’d stay at home and not spread your bad germs and pain and suffering and even cause dearth to others who could not afford modern medicine because you believe the quakes and tall tales and crazies on the internet world. If you don’t want a flu shot go ahead and suffer for 14 days, but stay home and away from others spreading you germs, pain and disease.

    • Regina Säveholm Olsson

I hope you are aware that you can carry, and spread, the flu even if you did get the shot.
You carry the infection but you don’t get any symptoms.
The so called “herd-immunity” simply does not exist for most vaccines.

      • Chris Johansen

Not true. Vaccines are not giving you friends anything from my being vaccinated..
Otherwise, my friends would get hepatitis, small pox and polio and this is not happening.
The vaccines are dead viruses. Dead viruses cannot reproduce.
Vaccines go into the blood and are not spread by blood transfusions. You may get some immunity from a transfusion.
If a person has a infectious disease like hepatitis and live virus you may get hepatitis, but not from a vaccination.

        • Regina Säveholm Olsson

Dude, learn to read and at least try to use your brain a bit.

I never said that the vaccine makes you contagious for whatever you were vaccinated against…

I said being vaccinated does not prevent you from being a carrier.
Ie picking up and carrying the infection and infecting others with it, it only protects you from developing symptoms (barely, flu vaccines are very unreliable and there is, in fact, little proof that they help at all).

Ie, you take the birdflu jab, a few months later you run into someone who is infected or touch an infected surface, the infection travels to you, but your vaccine works and you don’t get sick, but you now carry around the birdflu virus and can infect others with it (because you don’t know you have it in your body since you are not showing any symptoms).

    • Sean Symes

Dude, have you even read ONE of the many posts on this article about people getting sick after the flu shot? Your have made an assumption that those people with flu-like symptoms haven’t had a shot. Perhaps instead of having all this narrative in your head you politely ask people you see having the flu and see if they’ve had a shot. You can defuse the situation (question) but saying “I’m thinking of getting a flu shot but have heard some negative things, can I ask you if you had one?”. Get some real world data mate.

Seniors are given a version of the flu shot with extra additives that make immune responses MUCH more acute temporally (or the vaccine will not work). So many more die prematurely. EVIL! Its a year behind new strains anyway. PLEASE WAKE PEOPLE UP TO THIS HORROR!

  • Gloria Matthews

same goes for pneumonia vaccine.. my mother passed of pneumonia , had been otherwise healty, but passed shortly after the vaccine. granted she was 96, but previously had NO significant health issues, still climbing stairs, walking to the grocery store, excercising 3x a week. Why would you introduce a virus to an elderly person?? when we know that immune system strength tends to decline as we age??? hello????

  • B. W.

This is the result of a reporter with no apparent training in either medicine or research methodology interpreting a medical matter. People who watch the sun rise or drink Coca Cola also die. One study is not determinative on any issue as complex as this as there are a number of uncontrolled factors involved. For example, overall mortality rates in the US are rising, but many blame this on opiate use, not ineffective vaccines. Some pesky facts are that no vaccine is totally effective and in the case of flu it is known to only cover a limited number of strains of the flu, just as the pneumonia vaccine only covers a limited number of strains of that disease. For example that is why there are now two different pneumonia vaccines out there both covering a variety of strains of pneumonia but nobody is claiming they work on all versions of the disease. Both the flu and pneumonia are subject to genetic change as well. One way they change is called “antigenic drift.” These are small changes in the genes of influenza viruses that happen continually over time as the virus replicates. This is why someone can get the flu twice from what might be the same initial strain. The other type of change is called “antigenic shift.” Antigenic shift is an abrupt, major change in the influenza A viruses, resulting in new hemagglutinin and/or new hemagglutinin and neuraminidase proteins in influenza viruses that infect humans. Frankly this study flies in the face of recommendations from Harvard Medical Services and the CDC and smacks of the same kind of alarmist reporting that told us in the past that drinking too many artificially sweetened sodas or coffee would give us cancer. Without seeing a hell of a lot of more compelling data showing a direct causal factor of increased mortality from taking the shot I do not think this study justifies the risk of someone not taking the flu shot when they are in a high risk category.

  • rhubarb

If you take the shot one year, the following year your natural immune level will be DOWN by 250%. That in itself would be reason enough NOT to take it. We don’t know what’s in the flu shot that will supposedly help you but we do know that the following things ARE in it: 1) Mercury 2) Aluminum 3) Antifreeze and 4) Formaldehyde. It probably contains other toxins as well but those 4 are guaranteed. The flu shot is nothing but a multi-billion dollar scam and doctors don’t know it because all their education comes directly from Big Pharma.

Anyway, it takes a week, or two for a vaccine to take hold. With the present flu season going around a percentage of people may have caught the flu before the vaccination and thus blame it on the vaccination.

The vaccination will most not prevent a flu you are coming down with already.

Over 30 people under 65 years old have died from the flu in Bay Area of California this year by Jan,10,2018 and the flu season that does not peak until February normally.

Deaths of people over 65 years are not reported in flu deaths, so probably over 100 deaths have occurred in seniors in the Bay Area of California so far.
A 41 year old healthy mother died within 3 days of caching this flu strain that affects the lungs of some people.
I am avoiding people and places like restaurants and schools where you can most easily catch the flu. Flu likes the cold weather and sunshine outside kills the virus, so most out breaks happen in the winter.
Taking vitamin D3 (about 5,000 units), ” the sunshine vitamin,” may help build up your immune system. This years vaccine prevents other flu, but does not cover the flu virus most troubling this year, but previous years vaccinations, or a your previous case of related strains may lower severity of this years bad strain.

    • M Busby

I am 65, in all the years I have been here, never took the shot EXCEPT one time, forced to on the job or lose my job, I almost came down with pneumonia, from a severe infection. I am healthy, the shot destroys the persons own ability to fight off those infections.

  • Chris Johansen

US Government recommends you get flu shots.
The report says of the 85% children that have died from the Type A flu did not get a flu shot and parents of children that died are recommending you get a flu shot.
The flu shot has not been as effective this year, but even when you catch flu the vaccination from this and previous years lowers symptoms enough to allowing patients to survive and thus preventing deaths.
Many deaths are occurring due to lack of resistance when sick with the flu and pneumonia happens due to pneumonia germs present in body then attacking causing many deaths especially in children, seniors and people with weak immune system like people wit AIDS and senors.
Best to get your pneumonia shots too.
Generally, the height of flu season is in February.

Perhaps these seniors already had the flu brewing..getting the flu vax doesnt cause the flu…i have worked in aged care for years, and believe me, many more seniors would die if they didnt get the vaccine. When i started nursing, over 40 years ago, it was expected that many of the elderly would pass away due to the flu. It was just something that we prepared for each winter. I dont believe these “conspiracy” theories that get touted around. Its like saying vaccinating children is far too dangerous…the good definitely out weigh the bad. Just sayin’.

  • Gruffmeister

What a load of hogwash. The BMJ report doesn’t support what you are saying. It says that the flu jab is less effective, not that it is the cause of the increased deaths. Vaccine haters never get it into their heads that correlation doesn’t mean causation. In the figure of increased mortality the cause of death isn’t specified. It is quite likely that the flu jab was administered when they were suffering from some other ailment; with the jab given to make sure they didn’t get worse – but this is speculation; the journal article doesn’t provide the evidence of causation, just a correlation.
