The leader of ISIS in Afghanistan and Pakistan has been killed in a US drone strike.

Hafiz Saeed Khan, along with senior lieutenants, was reportedly killed in an air strike on 26th July

Mirror reports:

The claim, made by the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan, has yet to be verified but the US military says it is investigating.

Afghan Ambassador Omar Zakhilwal said: “”I can confirm that ISIS Khurasan leader Hafiz Saeed Khan along with his senior commanders and fighters died in a U. drone strike on July 26 in Kot district of Afghanistan’s Nangharhar province.”

A spokesman for the US military coalition in Kabul said he could not confirm the reports but officials were investigating.

Khan, a former member of the Pakistani branch of the Taliban who swore allegiance to Middle East-based Islamic State, had earlier reported killed last year but the death was never confirmed.

If true it’s the latest in a series of high profile targets killed by the coalition forces as the war on terror goes on.ISIS
