A modern Catholic priest from the Philippines has been suspended by his diocese after giving the Christmas Eve sermon on a two wheel Electric Scooter, the shopping craze of the holiday season.
Roman Catholic Church officials have reprimanded the culprit Reverend Father for his action, that has gone viral in an online video. Rev. Albert San Jose from Our Lady of Miraculous Medal, Biñan Parish, has been suspended by his local Diocese. The Reverend Father has already apologized for his past deeds.
The Telegraph reports:
The Diocese of San Pablo, Laguna, released a statement on Tuesday about the incident saying: “The Eucharist demands utmost respect and reverence. It is the Memorial of the Lord’s Sacrifice.
“It is the source and summit of Christian life. It is the Church’s highest form of worship. Consequently, it is not a personal celebration where one can capriciously introduce something to get the attention of the people.”
The statement said the priest would be “out of the parish and will spend some time to reflect on this past event.” It also said he apologised.
