Following the Brussels terrorist attacks on Tuesday, two MPs from Turkey made shocking remarks on Twitter, mocking Belgium and the rest of Europe.
Kaan Albur, from Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) shared a photograph of the Brussels airport shortly after the attacks which was joined by a photo of a pro-Kurdish tent with Kurdistan Worker’s Party flags on it set up next to the EU council building in Brussels.
Albur commented: “Life is like a boomerang, what you do will return to you”.
Algur’s remarks seem to be suggesting that he justifies Tuesday’s Brussel attacks due to the pro-Kurdish tent that was allowed to be set up in front of the EU building in Brussels.
Activists set up the tent to protest against the ongoing operations in Kurdish towns in Turkey’s southeast and for the release of jailed PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Another official, AKP’s Gaziantep MP, Şamil Tayyar, shared his response to the attacks through his Twitter account where he tweeted: “Europe’s centre has turned into an unliveable state. May your kingdom be damned!”
In another tweet, it said: “Troops are on the streets in Brussels, the king is resisting”.
Tayyar also tweeted: “A media ban has been imposed in Brussels, they are trying to cover-up the incident”.
Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said during a speech at Çanakkale on March 18: “There is no reason that the bomb which exploded in Ankara will not explode in Brussels or another European city”.
Belgium’s Interior Minister Jan Jambon has announced three days of national mourning following the deadly attacks.
