Hilarious claims that Sir Elton John slept with Camilla Parker-Bowles, Prince Charles’ second wife, when he was 18 have emerged by the elusive Hollywood Inquirer.
According to the Inquirer, Elton told them in an interview that he had dated the Duchess of Cornwall in 1965, before he realised he was homosexual.
“My first love was Camilla Parker-Bowles” he said.“Her name was still Camilla Rosemary Sand at the time, and she was living in East Sussex. I played at a place called the Queens Head, in Icklesham, and she was there. We talked after the concert, and we began to flirt a little bit… We ended up dating for a few weeks, and she is the first person I ever had sex with. Her family disapproved of our relationship, however, so she decided to break it up after about two months.”
The artist explains that he was not certain about his sexuality at the time, and that he found many qualities in Camilla which really attracted him.
“She was, in many ways, everything I’ve ever looked for in a partner,”added the famous singer.“She was strong, proud, confident and ambitious. She was also very logical and rational. She knew what she wanted, and she knew how to get it. I was deeply in love with her and it broke my heart when she left me.”
Elton John says that he has seen his ex-lover on many occasions over the last few years, and that they have become good friends.
“I’m in love with David and very happy,” he said, “My life has changed a lot since those days and I have no regrets at all. Camilla is now a real good friend with whom I share a lot of good memories”
It took Elton John many years to accept and make public the fact that he was homosexual. He was in multiple relationships with women before finally settling with his actual partner and husband, David Furnish.
In the late 1960s, the singer was engaged to be married to his lover, secretary Linda Woodrow, who is mentioned in the song “Someone Saved My Life Tonight“. He later announced that he was a bisexual, in a 1976 interview with Rolling Stone, and cancelled the engagement.
He married German recording engineer Renate Blauel on 14 February 1984, in Darling Point, Sydney, with speculation that the marriage was a cover for his homosexuality. The marriage lasted four years before he finally came to terms with the fact that he was actually homosexual. In 1988, he told Rolling Stone that he was “comfortable” being gay.
There as been no reaction from the British royal family, yet, concerning Sir Elton John’s claim, but a source close to Buckingham Palace has told reporters that an official statement is to be expected over the next few days.
